With each swing of a Tigers’ bat, the Indians are slowly losing any hope of making the 2011 post season. This series, the Indians final on at home versus Detroit, was the Tribe’s chance to still stake a claim on the AL Central championship. But with each loss, they now find themselves all but mathematically eliminated from winning the division. Losing a tough series opener to Doug Fister was a downer. Getting hammered in game two felt like the first nail in the season’s coffin. What does game 3 bring? Justin Verlander, sure to be the AL Cy Young award winner this season. The Indians match him with Justin Masterson, whom without the Indians would not have ever been in the situation of playing meaningful baseball into September.

Still, the reality of it seems like come October only one pro sports team in Cleveland will be playing. Heartbreaking, considering the opportunity this team had right now in a season when no one thought they would even be where they are right now.
